Ribbon-cutting Celebrating the Kern River Bike Trail Extension

Join Kern County Public Works, elected officials, and community members as we celebrate the completion of the Kern River Bike Trail Extension.

The ceremony is taking place on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 10 a.m. with an inaugural bike ride to follow at the Buena Vista Aquatic Recreational Area entrance: 13601 Ironbark Road, Bakersfield, 93311.

Bicyclists can now enjoy approximately 6.3 miles of extended paved trail, in addition to the existing 30 miles of Kern River Bike Trail, while taking in the vast scenery of Kern County and all it has to offer.

Following the ceremony, Kern Wheelmen and Bike Bakersfield will be leading an inaugural bike ride in celebration of the new extension. For anyone interested in joining the bike ride, please contact Joe Watkins with Kern Wheelmen or Asha Chandy with Bike Bakersfield.
