Oh, Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree – what do I do with your branches? Each year, the Kern County Public Works Department hosts its Annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program beginning the day after Christmas, December 26 until January 10. As the holiday season comes to a close, we want to share information on how you can properly recycle your real Christmas tree. There are two FREE options to recycle your tree: (1) You can cut the tree into small pieces and place into your Greenwaste container with the lid able to completely close OR (2) You can drop-off your tree at one of the 23 countywide Christmas tree drop-off locations. Please properly tarp and secure your load when transporting. Don’t forget to remove all ornaments, lights, and tree stands prior to recycling in your Greenwaste container or dropping off.
For additional information, including a full list of countywide drop-off locations, please view our 2019 Media Release.
